Finding balance in life can be tough, right? Especially when juggling work and personal wellness. That’s why I’m really excited to share my latest home project with you! I’m setting up a dedicated wellness room that will be a serene space featuring a Pilates area, our old sauna, and the red light therapy panel I always rave about. It’s going to be the perfect sanctuary for unwinding and recharging!
I’ve been noticing Pilates trending all over TikTok. Is forty too old to be a “Pilates Princess”? Absolutely not. I’ve had this affordable reformer in my Amazon cart forever, and I finally took the leap and ordered it today!
I can’t wait to show you some unique Pilates gear and clothing I’ve recently discovered. Whether you’re a Pilates pro or just getting started, having the right equipment can really level up your practice. From comfy mats to resistance bands and trendy workout outfits, I’ll be sharing all my essential finds to help you elevate your Pilates workouts at home.
For me, this wellness room is more than just a workout space. It’s a sanctuary I’m creating for self-care and balance in life. I believe that finding this balance is crucial, and I’m excited to share this journey with you.
AT-HOME PILATES EQUIPMENT
Let’s start with one key point: A reformer is not necessary and it’s absolutely a splurge item! There are tons of variations of equipment you can use to replicate what happens on a reformer! Now, I’m NOT an expert, so I recommend searching for at-home Pilates workouts on YouTube! There are tons! Below are my recommendations solely based on what I’ve tried or want to try!
Adding some weight to your Pilates workout is crucial to seeing progress. This isn’t something I’m going to start immediately, but over time it’s something I’ll include! These are also great if you don’t purchase a reformer as you’ll need weights to create tension!
2. DUMBELLS & ANKLE/ WRIST WEIGHTS
Same concept as with kettlebells; dumbells and ankle weights help with providing that at-home Pilates reformer feel by creating tension. Plus, we want to build those muscles! How cute are these dumbells though!?
This should be the first thing you purchase! You absolutely need a non-slip and soft surface to practice on! I highly recommend purchasing a large mat to make sure you have room to move around.
4. STRETCHING BLOCKS AND ROLLERS
Blocks help you with positions that are advanced as they essentially move the ground closer to you! They also reduce pressure on your joints and muscles. This way, you can fully benefit from the Pilates move without straining or hurting yourself!
Pilates focuses on engaging your core and improving your balance and this ring makes all the muscles burn. It works for upper body, lower body, and feels like the devil himself sent it for your core muscles.
These DO NOT have to cost thousands of dollars! If you’re a Pilates expert then that may be the route you want to go down, but I found an affordable at-home option! This reformer is only $459, which is still a lot, but well worth it if you’re investing in an at-home Pilates studio.
A FEW EXTRAS THAT I MAY NEED TO BUY
STORAGE RACK
If you choose to go full swing with all this equipment, this is the perfect way to store everything!
BARRE W/ TABLET HOLDER
This will help so much with difficult balance exercises and you can also learn barre workouts! The tablet or phone holder is such a great addition!
AT-HOME PILATES APPAREL
Firstly, I love a good Amazon find. There’s so much high-quality activewear that’s much less expensive than name brands. I have a list dedicated to the products in this blog, right here! And, I also have another list with a much larger variety of at-home gym products and clothing. Find it right here!
1 & 2. WORKOUT ONESIES
I’m a big fan of workout onesies for Pilates. Nothing rides up, leggings don’t ride down, and nothing gets snagged anywhere. This allows fluid movement no matter what you’re doing. It’s also easy to visualize your progress! We love gains.

3. SHRUGS
If you’re always cold, these are for you. They cover your arms without being a full-on long-sleeve top. Highly recommend the tighter one as you don’t need to remove it before your workout. If you’re going to classes at a studio, these are great to throw on post-class!
4. GRIPPY SOCKS
These help so much with balance and gripping your mat or your reformer! I recommend these if your feet sweat a lot, as nothing hurts more than a strained muscle from slipping.
