A Guide to 2020 Home Design Trends

TUXEDO KITCHENS/DARK MOODY KITCHENS

This is absolutely a trend I can get on board with. If I ever built a house again, this is the way I would do it. The moody style brings this organic texture and elegance to the space.

“The 5th Wall” CEILINGS

Look up! Wallpaper or paint can bring life to the forgotten fifth wall. You can go bold with a patterned wallpaper or paint it in your accentuating shade for your home!! Another creative option is to bring the paint up from the floor and bring it to a point in the middle or 1/3 of the ceiling to end. See how the last photo created a nook by placing a light fixture on the edge of the painted area!?

WABI SABI – Beauty in imperfection.

This style trend is the definition of imperfection & organic. See how this bedroom is slightly “undone”? It is still put together, the bed is made and they have baskets for pillows and blankets. Yet the throw is tossed onto the bed, the bench is “rough” and the light fixture is reminiscent of old times.

TERRA – COTTA – walls and accessories! From just a touch with a vase or a whole wall! Terra Cotta brings that warmth and sense of nature back into the home. Organic elements have been trending for a couple of years now and don’t expect it to stop in 2020.

WOOD BEAMS – this trend is a tried and true style. It adds a vintage history, warmth, coziness and character to any home. This trend is not only for vaulted ceilings.

JUJU HATS – wealth health and prosperity- layer them on the wall, fireplace, above your bed. A perfect piece to mix in your basket walls.

PLANTS/BIRDS – Bring the outdoors in – wallpaper, plants, faux trees.

BLUES –

OPEN FLOOR PLANS – This trend will keep on going! Our open floor plan is our favorite thing about the house. Being able to be in the kitchen and no more pausing the TV, no more missing out on time with guests or family and being able to have all the beautiful natural light!
