Hi friends! This week I touched on the idea of creating an old-fashioned home out of a new house. When we were building and designing this house, one main thing was to add touches of traditional craftsman character.
A few things we designed while building the home:
We added three transom windows over the doorways in the main area. We choose a craftsman grid design in our black windows. There are tall baseboards with custom router lines to create that old detail. We built a door/window trim for the builder to use as a design mock-up. This helped to give that true craftsman style.
We knew that there would be projects we would do after we moved in. The entryway wall treatment is one. My thoughts are to have texture, coat hooks, and find some detailed trim for the topper.
Here is our entryway. These doors are my babies! The space is beautiful on its own. I would love to keep the space white dove but add some more texture.
We were in a magazine! I still can’t believe it.
Here are a few inspiration photos I have found on Pinterest.
In this photo, I love the picture ledge and simple board and batten.
This one is clean and classic. This would be my favorite if we were painting it pashmina (the trim color).
Here I am really digging the double hooks and different size boards.
Currently searching for the trim work here. It’s so detailed and gorgeous.
I will be adding your favorites as I grab all of the sourcing information!
Be sure to follow along on Instagram for daily stories and now YouTube for more details as we dive into this project!
What is the stain color on the front door please?
Hi It’s the color teak!
